Peter (Cephas)

Cephas is the Aramaic name given to Simon by Jesus (John 1:42), meaning “rock” — the Greek equivalent is Peter (Petros). Paul uses “Cephas” consistently in his letters (Galatians 1–2, 1 Corinthians 1:12, 3:22, 9:5, 15:5).
