Biography

Qoheleth is the Hebrew title behind “the Preacher” or “the Teacher” in Ecclesiastes. The speaker takes up a royal Solomonic voice to test wisdom, pleasure, labor, wealth, and legacy under the sun.

Whether read as Solomon directly or as a later wisdom writer using Solomonic persona, Qoheleth’s role is to press human wisdom to its limits and drive the reader toward fearing God and keeping his commandments.
