Biography

Job’s wife appears briefly after Job has lost his children, wealth, and health. Her words, “Curse God, and die,” are often read as faithless counsel, but they also emerge from shared catastrophe: she too has lost her children and household.

Job rebukes her speech as foolish, insisting that they must receive both good and adversity from God. The narrative says Job did not sin with his lips.
