Biography

Lady Wisdom appears in Proverbs as wisdom given a public voice. She cries in the streets, rebukes the simple for refusing instruction, and invites the reader into life ordered by the fear of the LORD.

In Proverbs 8, Wisdom speaks of being present with God before and during creation. This poetic personification became important in later reflection on creation, divine wisdom, and Christ as the wisdom of God.
