Biblical Significance

The Valley Gate was one of the Jerusalem gates on Nehemiah’s nighttime inspection route after he arrived from Shushan. He went out by the Valley Gate to inspect the broken walls and later returned through the same gate.

In the rebuilding list, Hanun and the inhabitants of Zanoah repaired the Valley Gate and rebuilt a long stretch of wall toward the Dung Gate.
