First Miracles

Overview

Mark’s opening chapters show Jesus healing, casting out demons, cleansing a leper, and forgiving sins with authority.

These first miracles establish the pace and theological center of Mark: the kingdom has arrived in the powerful mercy of Jesus Christ.

The miracles provoke both amazement among the crowds and opposition from religious leaders.
