Details
When Jerusalem’s wall was breached, the princes of Babylon entered and sat in the middle gate. Their presence marked the visible end of Judah’s independent rule and the beginning of Babylonian control over the ruined city.
In the same chapter, Jeremiah was released by Babylonian command while Zedekiah was captured and judged. The contrast is sharp: the prophet rejected by Judah is preserved by the conquering empire.
