Biblical Significance
Gibeon is a Hivite city whose inhabitants deceive Israel into a treaty, then become the reason for Israel’s battle against a southern coalition. In the monarchy it also becomes a significant worship site, connected with the tabernacle in 1 Chronicles and with Solomon’s Wisdom in 1 Kings.
