Biography

Bigthan and Teresh were two of the king’s chamberlains who guarded the threshold. They became angry with Ahasuerus and planned to lay hands on him, but Mordecai learned of the plot and reported it through Esther.

The plot was investigated, confirmed, and the conspirators were hanged. Mordecai’s service was recorded but initially unrewarded, setting up the sleepless-night reversal of Esther 6.
