Details
Haman was dead, but the decree sealed in the king’s name could not simply be revoked. Esther pleaded again with Ahasuerus, and Mordecai was given authority to write in the king’s name for the Jews.
The new letters authorized the Jews in every province to gather, defend their lives, and stand against attackers on the appointed day. Mourning turned to gladness, fear of the Jews fell on their enemies, and the day chosen by Haman’s lot became a day of victory.
